The Betty L, a 6,800-ton deadweight vessel, grounded on the beach in San Francisco Bay, but the barge was successfully refloated without environmental impact or further damage to the vessel.
Biscay 30: The 1,200-ton Spanish tug Biscay 30 was tripped and run over by a fully loaded tow in the Mississippi River Southwest Pass, requiring total channel clearance and salvage; the tug was successfully refloated and towed to harbor with no environmental damage.
The log barge Seaspan Rigger grounded in Barkley Sound, BC, and sustained structural damage. The barge was successfully removed in two sections with no environmental damage, and both sections were then towed to port.
